Faith, Oatmeal, and HIV Testing

Washington, D.C. (June 27, 2021) - H.R. 1242 Resilience Project President, Don Victor Mooney, a devout Catholic made a pilgrimage to Saint John Paul II National Shrine and took a HIV test after Mass, which coincides with National HIV Testing Day.


In 2004, Pope John Paul II blessed Mooney for his mission. His audience was made possible by Diocese of Rockville Centre and Cardinal Francis Arinze, Emeritus Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments. The theme for 2021 National HIV Testing Day is dubbed My Test, My Way.

Virginia Beach, Virginia March 29, 2020 (Jewish News) - As we confront the COVID19 pandemic, we can't drop our guard for those who aim to divide us. We must continue to be vigilant in the ugliness of antisemitism and just like Harriet Tubman, following the north star for social justice, said Don Victor Mooney, President of H.R. 1242 Resilience Project.

Waterway renaming encouraged on Harriet Tubman Day

Lewes, Delaware March 24, 2020 (Cape Gazette) - After a meeting at the Office of Senator Tom Carper (D-DE), Ms. Gwendolyn Briley-Strand made her mark on the guest book. 


In commemoration of Harriet Tubman Day March 10, internationally renowned actress Ms. Briley-Strand brought Harriet Tubman to the Halls of Congress, and she brought some passengers with her. Members of Local 1-2 of Utility Workers Union of America, AFL-CIO, Worcester County NAACP Branch, and HR 1242 Resilience Project were present to encourage Congress to introduce legislation to rename the Virginia Inside Passage as the Harriet Tubman Waterway.

Ocean City, Maryland March 17, 2020 (MyNewsDesk) - On Harriet Tubman Day, March 10, Worcester County NAACP Branch President, Mr. Ivory Smith partnered with HR 1242 Resilience Project to commemorate the Underground Conductor at U.S. Capitol Visitors Center. 


Without Harriet Tubman there would not be a woman movement today. By changing the Virginia Inside Passage to Harriet Tubman Waterway will be an honor for the women's movement today and to the African-American Women, said Worcester County NAACP Branch President, Mr. Ivory Smith.

Barbados March 17, 2020 (Bajan Reporter) In commemoration of Harriet Tubman Day on March 10, internationally renowned actress, Gwendolyn Briley-Strand, brought Harriet Tubman to the Halls of Congress to encourage Congress to introduce legislation to rename Virginia Inside Passage to the Harriet Tubman Waterway.


This legislation will also help with current environmental challenges in the Virginia Inside Passage said, Don Victor Mooney, of Queens and President of the HR 1242 Resilience Project.

On September 24, 2016, Ms. Bripassengersley-Strand was given the honor of introducing the President of The United States Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, President George W. Bush, former First Lady Laura Bush, and all the dignitaries and celebrities at the Grand Opening of the African American Museum Of History And Culture in Washington DC.

Harriet Tubman Makes History At U.S. Capitol Visitors Center

March 13, 2020 Washington, D.C. (Broadway World) Shemika Berry of Accokeek, Maryland gave a history lesson to the students at Harriet Tubman Elementary School in Washington, D.C on March 10. Berry is a former Air Force officer, actress, and makeup artist.


Just a few hours later, the Marylander made history as the first Harriet Tubman reenactor to perform at the U.S. Capitol Visitors Center. In the U.S. Capitol Visitors Center, Ms. Berry performed for the Harriet Tubman Awards for Social Justice ceremony, which symbolizes freedom, justice, and equality for women in labor.
