Proposed Harriet Tubman Waterway Act delivered to legislators

December 23, 2019 (Cape Gazette) - In an effort to establish the Harriet Tubman Waterway Act, which calls for renaming the Virginia Inside Passage in honor of Harriet Tubman, Don Victor Mooney handed off proposed legislation to the offices of Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester, D-Delaware; Rep. Elaine Luria, D-Virginia; and Rep. Andy Harris, R-Maryland, who represent parts of the Delmarva Peninsula.

Virginia Governor sends a letter of support to HR 1242 Resilience Project President

December 12, 2019 - In an excerpt from a letter from the Honorable Ralph Northam, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virgina to Don Victor Mooney, President of HR 1242 Resilience Project.


"I would also like to extend a warm thank you for traveling to the Eastern Shore, the place I call my home, to speak at African Baptist Church about your journey and reflect on the life of Harriet Tubman. The history of Virginia is complex, contradictory, and often untold, and my administration and I are dedicated to understanding our past so we can better inform our future."

New York Governor signs 400 years legislation for African-American History

December 12, 2019 - The Honorable Andrew Cuomo, Governor of New York, signed legislation to commemorate the 400 years of African-American history since the arrival of the first slaves to the colony of New York. HR 1242 Resilience Project advocated in Albany for the passage of this bill, and hosted the first event honoring the resilience & contributions of African-Americans in New York State on August 17, 2019.

Senator Mitchell urged to support Harriet Tubman Waterway Act

December 11, 2019 Washington, DC - HR 1242 Resilience Project ended their visit to the nations Captial outside of United States Senator Majority Leader Office, the Honorable Mitch Mc Connell (R-KY). Approaching 7 PM, the office was closed, but HR 1242 Resilience Project will follow up. The Senator hails from the great state of Kentucky, which was a crucial partner in HR 1242 Resilience Project row from Africa to New York.
